The short answer

Comedy in English is the easiest sure plan for a weekend evening in Barcelona. On a normal Friday and Saturday, the main shows are at Canvis Nous, the original Clubhouse room, at 20:00. Sunday has a showcase at Laietana at 20:00. All are in English and cost €10 to €12 online.

The dated list at the top of this page covers the next two weeks and is rebuilt from the clubs' own listings. Use it for the exact shows. The rest of this page explains how to choose between them, what is free, and what to do around the show.

This guide is about comedy. For museums, markets and concerts, the city's own agenda on guia.barcelona.cat is the official source. We will not pretend to rate anything outside our topic.

In a hurry? Friday or Saturday at 20:00: Canvis Nous, €12 online. Sunday at 20:00: Laietana, €10 online. Free afternoon: the writing workshop and the open mic on Saturday. Book on the club's showcases page. Data read on 2 November 2026.

A weekend in three evenings

The table lists the usual weekend shows, not the dated ones. A festival can replace any of them, so check the list above before you travel. Prices are the online price on the event page, with the group price for four or more where the club sets one.

EveningShowRoomStartOnline price
FridayThe Friday Spotlight, a curated line-up with a featured headlinerCanvis Nous20:00€12, groups €10
FridayFriday Night Live, touring comics and surprise drop-insCanvis Nous22:00€12, groups €10
SaturdayThe Saturday Spotlight, the weekend's other main showcaseCanvis Nous20:00€12, groups €10
SundaySunday Night Comedy, a weekend-strength line-upLaietana20:00€10, groups €8

If you can only do one night, pick Saturday. It is the busiest evening, so book. If you want a quieter room and a kitchen, pick Sunday. Laietana serves food and drinks before and after the show.

Our Top 10 comedy shows ranks Roast Battle Barcelona and LOLyamorous first and second, with The Spotlight, the Friday and Saturday showcase, third. That is a score of the shows, not an audience rating.

Afternoons and late nights

Comedy is not only an evening plan. On Saturday, the Open Writing Workshop starts at 15:00 in The Alcove, and Show Up Go Up, a relaxed open mic, starts at 17:00 in the same room. Both are free. If you want to watch, not perform, an open mic is an easy hour to drop into.

On Sunday afternoons, a free improv or clown workshop runs at 15:00 on alternate Sundays. Jamnation Salvation, an improv show, runs at 17:15 on the second and fourth Sunday. Our workshops guide says what each session is.

The open mic is a low-risk first hour. Show Up Go Up runs from 17:00 to 18:30 on a Saturday, so it fits between a lunch and a dinner. Nobody needs to stay for the full run, and the line-up is whoever shows up, so the quality varies from set to set.

For a late night, Friday has karaoke at Laietana from 23:00, and Saturday has Live in The Alcove, a music night, also at 23:00. Both are free and labelled for all languages. They suit people who want a drink and a song after a show.

Two sample weekends

A free weekend runs entirely on open doors. On Friday, Show Up Go Up starts at 17:30, and karaoke follows at 23:00. On Saturday, go to the writing workshop at 15:00, stay for the open mic at 17:00, and finish with live music at 23:00. On Sunday, the improv or clown workshop starts at 15:00 on alternate Sundays. Everything on that list costs nothing to enter, though you will want a drink.

A full weekend books three paid nights. Friday at 20:00 is The Friday Spotlight, and Saturday at 20:00 is The Saturday Spotlight, both in the basement of Canvis Nous. Sunday at 20:00 is Sunday Night Comedy upstairs or downstairs at Laietana. For the three nights you pay 34 euros online, plus drinks.

A mixed weekend is the one most visitors want. Take one big night, the Saturday Spotlight, and fill the rest with free shows. That keeps the cost near €12 and still gives you three different rooms and formats.

Whichever you pick, the dated list at the top decides. It shows what the club has actually put on sale for the days you are in town. If your dates are outside the list, the weekly pattern above is a fair guide to a normal week.

If it is a festival weekend

The Barcelona Fringe filled both Clubhouse rooms for ten days in November 2026. On those weekends, the club listed more than twenty English shows on a Saturday, from late morning to after midnight. Most morning and afternoon shows were free, and the evening ones mostly cost €5 to €15 online.

With that many shows, do not try to choose from the title alone. Look at the format, the length and the price. A one-hour solo act at 17:00 for nothing is a cheap way to try a comedian. A touring headliner in the evening costs more.

The club also lists a family-friendly magic show on Saturday and Sunday mornings in a festival week, which is rare for this scene. It is free, and it is the exception to the 18-and-over rule. The Barcelona Fringe site lists the whole festival.

Source: the club's Fringe-week listings and the festival site, read on 2 November 2026.

If it is a weekday

A weekday still has comedy, but it is smaller. Monday and Tuesday are open mic nights at Laietana, free, starting at 19:30 and 21:00. Wednesday has a free pub quiz at 20:00 and a showcase at 21:00 for €8 online. Thursday has an improv show at 20:00 and a bilingual showcase at 22:00.

The music open mic on Thursday at 21:00 is free, and any weekday show can be skipped for the next. If you are new to the scene, Wednesday is the easiest first night: the quiz is a social warm-up, and the showcase follows in the same building.

In a quiet week outside a festival, the list shows between one and five English shows a day at the Clubhouse. That is still the busiest weekday scene for English comedy in our data. Read the full table on the Clubhouse shows page.

Before you go: timing, food and getting there

Doors for an open mic open about half an hour before the start. A showcase starts at the time on the ticket, so be in your seat by then: some solo shows let nobody in late.

Food depends on the room. Only Laietana has a kitchen, and only its upper floor lets you eat during a show. Canvis Nous has none, so eat before a Friday or Saturday showcase there.

A two-minute walk links the rooms. The club's pages name no metro station, so plan the route, and the night bus after a late show, on TMB. Street addresses are in the two room reviews.

Weekends are the busy part of the week, and a full show keeps a waitlist. Both rooms involve stairs, so anyone in your group who needs step-free access should read the access notes in the room reviews and warn the club ahead of time. The rules for swaps and refunds are in those reviews too.

What a weekend costs

You can spend nothing. The workshops, the open mic, the karaoke and the late music night are free. After that, one paid show is €10 to €12 online, and two shows in a night are about double. A drink is extra, and the club's site sets no minimum order.

BudgetWhat it buysWhere
FreeA workshop, an open mic, karaoke or live musicLaietana
About €10Sunday Night Comedy, onlineLaietana
About €12A Spotlight or Friday Night Live, onlineCanvis Nous
€24 or moreA touring headliner in a festival weekLaietana or a festival room

The cheapest way to save is to buy online. The door price is two or three euros higher. The next saving is a group of four, which pays one or two euros less a head on most showcases, online only.

Where this list comes from

The Clubhouse's public events list and each event page were read on 2 November 2026, and every row keeps the day it was seen. The dated list is built from those rows, so it shows nothing unread. A show added later waits for the next read.

No one from this site has sat in either room for this guide, so it says nothing about the atmosphere of a night. Prices and times are the club's own. See the Top 10 comedy clubs for how the rooms rank, and English nights out if language is the main question.

Questions people ask

What is on in Barcelona this weekend if I want comedy?

On a normal weekend, The Friday Spotlight at 20:00 and Friday Night Live at 22:00 run at Canvis Nous, The Saturday Spotlight at 20:00 follows there, and Sunday Night Comedy at 20:00 runs at Laietana. All four are in English and cost €10 to €12 online. The dated list at the top of this page shows the exact shows for the coming days.

Is there anything free to do on a Saturday?

Yes. At Laietana the Open Writing Workshop starts at 15:00 and Show Up Go Up, an open mic, starts at 17:00. Both are free and in English, and both run in The Alcove. Live in The Alcove, a late music night at 23:00, is also free. In a festival week, many morning and afternoon shows are free too.

Do I need to book before the weekend?

It is wise for Friday and Saturday evenings. Door sales are normal unless a night has sold out, yet a few shows fill up regularly, and the web price beats the door price. Groups of four or more also pay less online. For a Sunday or a weekday, booking on the day is usually fine.

What if the dated list is empty?

Then the data we hold has run out of dates, and the page says so. We read the venues' listings on 2 November 2026 and rebuild the page from that data. If the list is empty, open the club's showcases page, which shows the live programme, or check the weekly pattern in the table below for the usual nights.

Can I bring children to a comedy night?

Mostly no. The Clubhouse is for adults by default, admits teenagers from 16 with a grown-up, and lets in younger children as a rare exception, so write to the club first. A few daytime shows in a festival week are listed as family friendly, such as a magic show on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

What else is there to do besides comedy?

We only cover comedy, so we do not rate museums, concerts or food. For the full city programme, use the official agenda on guia.barcelona.cat and the visitor site of Barcelona Turisme. A comedy show lasts one to two hours, so it fits easily after a day of sightseeing and before a late dinner.
