What is a roast battle?
A roast battle is a contest. Two comedians take turns to insult each other with prepared jokes, and the winner is chosen by judges. The format grew out of a live show at the Belly Room of The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. It began in 2013, when two comedians argued over a joke and the host, Brian Moses, suggested they settle it on stage.
The American TV version ran on Comedy Central from 27 July 2016 to 28 August 2018. Its rules are short. Comedians use only original material, there is no physical contact, and every battle ends with a hug. A panel of guest judges, including at least two comedians or celebrities, picks the winner.
The hug matters. It tells the room that the insults are a performance, and that both comedians agreed to take part. Local versions copy the idea, but each promoter sets the details, such as round length and the number of judges.

What do the Barcelona listings say?
The Eventbrite listing for Roast Battle Barcelona describes pairs of local comics trading insults head to head. A panel of comedians picks the winner, and the results feed the global Roast Battle League. It also says there are no content limits. We read this as listing text, not as a page we could confirm in person.
The same listing gives the room as The Lounge at Laietana, and the schedule as the first and third Thursday of the month at 22:00. It shows prices of €10 online, €12 at the door and €9 per person for groups of four or more. Confirm the price on the event page for the date you choose.
Two earlier traces exist. A Fringe listing on Eventbrite, titled Roast Battle BCN: The Comedy Purge, gave a date of 1 November 2024. A Trip.com listing titled Roast Battle Barcelona, comedy roast in English, gave 7 February 2025. Both are search results that we did not open in full.

How do you find the next date?
Use the Clubhouse calendar. The Clubhouse series page for Roast Battle Barcelona showed no individual events when we read it on 2 November 2026, so we cannot name a date. A search of the club's site returned a link that pointed to the series page again.
The listing gives a pattern, not a calendar. A night on the first and third Thursday falls on two dates a month, but a festival week or a skipped date can move one. That is why we print none. When a dated event page appears, we add it to the one-off shows list.
The club answers questions by email. Ask it which Thursday is next, and whether the night is sold in advance or at the door. We re-read the club's pages every Monday.

What can you see on the other nights?
Two other formats at Canvis Nous put conflict between the room and the comedian at the centre. Gong Wild is a gong show. Anyone who signs up gets six minutes, and the audience can end a set with the gong. In our data it has one date in November, at 23:00, for €10 online and €12 at the door.
Major League Bombs is the second. The audience throws baseballs at jokes they dislike. It lists one date in the same window, at 23:00, and it is free. Both are one-offs, not weekly nights. Our Canvis Nous review describes the room.
For audience participation of a different kind, read our guide to LOLyamorous, where volunteers go on a date on stage. For a weekly line-up, see the recurring nights list.

How could you take part?
The public pages do not describe how comedians enter. The Eventbrite text refers to local comics, which points to an arranged line-up. If you want to roast, write to the club and ask. If you want to watch, check the calendar for the next Thursday.
A newcomer who wants stage time now should start with an open mic. Show Up Go Up is free and open to anyone who shows up. Our open mic guide explains how to approach the list.

Questions people ask
When is the next Roast Battle in Barcelona?
The Eventbrite series listing gives the first and third Thursday of the month at 22:00 at The Clubhouse: Laietana. We print no specific date, because the Clubhouse series page listed no individual events when we read it on 2 November 2026. Check the Clubhouse calendar for the next date before you plan your evening.
What happens at a roast battle?
Two comedians trade insults about each other, one after the other, in rounds. A panel decides who won. In the TV format, the rules are original material only, no physical contact, and a hug at the end. The Barcelona listing adds that a panel of comedians picks the winner and that there are no content limits.
Will I be roasted as an audience member?
The listings describe the roasting as a contest between the two comedians on stage. They do not say that the audience is targeted, and we found no mention of crowd work. Expect harsh jokes about the performers, and ask the club if you want to know how the host treats the room.
Is Roast Battle in English?
Yes, as far as the listings show. The 2025 Trip.com listing is titled as a comedy roast in English, and the Eventbrite listing gives English as the language. The Clubhouse tags nearly all its shows by language, so check the tag on the event page when a new date appears.
Can I sign up to roast someone?
The pages we read do not say how comedians enter. The Eventbrite text describes pairs of local comics, which suggests the line-up is arranged in advance. Ask the club by email if you want to take part. Gong Wild, a different format, lets anyone who signs up take a six-minute set.
How much does a ticket cost?
The Eventbrite series listing shows €10 online, €12 at the door and €9 per person for a group of four or more. Prices can change by date, so confirm on the event page when you book. Other Clubhouse showcases in our data run from €8 to €12 online.
