Improv in English in Barcelona

The short answer

The reliable English improv in Barcelona is at The Clubhouse: Laietana. Typical Adult Behavior runs on Thursdays at 20:00 in The Lounge. It costs €8 online and €10 at the door, and groups of four or more pay €7 each online. The club describes it as a fast-paced, unscripted night.

Around that sits a changing set of one-off improv hours, mostly in festival weeks, and two ways to join in for free: a workshop and an improv jam on Sundays. The dated list at the top of this page shows the English improv for the weeks ahead.

For improv in Spanish, three other clubs in our Top 10 run it. We say below what they cost and why a non-Spanish speaker should skip them.

The weekly night: Typical Adult Behavior

It starts at 20:00 on Thursdays and the listing ends at 21:45. The event page promises wild characters and unexpected scenes, with a cast that changes. We cannot tell you who will be on stage on a given Thursday, because the page does not say.

It sits in a good slot. The Thursday evening continues at 21:00 with a free music open mic, and at 22:00 with The Spanglish Show, a bilingual showcase. You can see improv and then stand-up in the same room, which suits a group with mixed tastes.

The same title ran at Canvis Nous in festival week, spelled Typical Adult Behaviour, at €5 online. Both spellings are the same show brand in our data. The main room for it is Laietana.

Our Top 10 comedy shows puts it sixth in the overall list. That score says how well the show scores on our six criteria, not how funny it is.

These shows are tagged as improv in the club's listings. Most ran in festival week, so they may not repeat. The dated list at the top shows which are still ahead.

The club tags are the club's. A show tagged improv may be part scripted. Read the one-line description on the event page before you book. The club also calls the team behind TAB Presents the number one improv team in Barcelona. That is the club's claim, and we have no outside check of it.

Improv you can join

The Open Improv Workshop runs on alternate Sundays at 15:00 in The Lounge, in English. The event page lists a ticket at €0. A ticket platform lists it as pay what you want, so bring a few euros. A clown workshop takes the other Sundays.

Jamnation Salvation, the improv session on the second and fourth Sunday at 17:15, is free. The club says nothing about whether it is for performers or for an audience, and we do not know. Our workshops guide sets out what the club tells us about each session, and what it does not.

Improv in Spanish

Three clubs in the Top 10 run improv in Spanish. Teatre Muntaner shows Corta el cable rojo, tagged improv, in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday, from €20. Atrápalo shows 9.6 out of 10 for it, from more than thirteen thousand votes, and Taquilla shows 4.9 out of 5. Those ratings are for the show, not for the theatre.

Teatreneu in Gràcia runs an Impro Show in the Sala Xavier Fàbregas, on several days a week, from €14 to €16 a session. Its pages list only the next few sessions, so our count is a floor. Club Cronopios in El Raval lists a Monólogos & Impro session almost every evening, from €10, and some sessions include a drink.

None of these is for a visitor who speaks no Spanish. Improv is invented on the spot, and the words are the show. If you speak some Spanish and want to try, Cronopios is the cheapest. Read our Top 10 comedy clubs for each room.

English improv we could not verify

Barcelona Improv Group lists English improv runs on Fever, with titles such as #Adulting, Wordless and Spill the Tea, from €10 to €12. The listing gives no room or time that we could read. We hold it as a lead and do not rank it.

Two of the three titles run for weeks, according to the listing, which suggests a regular cast and a regular room. That is our reading of a ticket page, not a fact we confirmed. Check the date and the room on the ticket page before you travel.

Which improv night for which outing

• A date. The Thursday show, because it has a fixed start and ends before 22:00. See the date night guide.

• To learn. The Open Improv Workshop, then watch the Thursday show the same week.

Improv by price

The table shows a pattern. English improv is cheap, because the Clubhouse sells it in a bar next to a free open mic. Spanish improv is dearer because it is sold as theatre. Prices are the lowest online price listed, and a final price can differ by session.

A Thursday evening, hour by hour

Thursday is the improv night, and it is also the fullest weekday evening at Laietana. At 20:00 the improv show starts in The Lounge. It ends about 21:45. At 21:00 the music open mic starts in The Alcove, free and labelled for all languages. At 22:00 The Spanglish Show starts in The Lounge.

That gives three ways to spend a Thursday. Take only the improv show for a short night. Take improv and the Spanglish Show for a long one, with a gap of fifteen minutes between them. Or take the free music open mic after the show, for a late drink with live songs.

The cost of the long night is 18 euros online for one person, or 15 euros each in a group of four. The bilingual showcase is €10 online, and €8 for groups. We do not know how full the room gets, so book the improv show ahead on a festival Thursday.

Improv in festival week

The Barcelona Fringe added more improv to the Clubhouse rooms for ten days in November 2026. The improv-tagged shows in that stretch were mostly one-hour slots, some in the afternoon and some very late, and several were free. A late slot ran at 23:00.

If you are in town for a festival, the cheap way in is the free afternoon hours. They let you see the form without a ticket cost. The weekly Thursday show then tells you whether you like the regular version. The Barcelona Fringe site lists the whole festival.

What we cannot tell you

The pages give a title, a time, a room, a price and a line of description. They do not say how much of a show is audience-led, how long the warm-up is, or who is on stage. We have not been to any of these shows, so we make no claim about the quality of the improv.

Improv varies more than scripted comedy, because the cast changes. A show that works one night can miss the next. That is part of the form, and the reason to try more than one night before you decide.
