The short answer
The easiest open mic to find in Barcelona is at The Clubhouse: Laietana. It hosts several every week, all in English and all free, on Monday and Tuesday evenings and on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Outside the Clubhouse, Secret Comedy Club has a Thursday night-time try-out, and Craft Barcelona has a free Wednesday stand-up night.
If you only want to watch stand-up, a showcase or a solo hour will be better than an open mic. A showcase costs €8 to €12 online, and a solo hour from €5 to €14. If you want to perform, start with the relaxed open mic on Fridays or Saturdays, then read the section on how to get a slot.
The dated list at the top of this page shows the English stand-up and open mics for the next two weeks. Below it we explain the types of night, so you know what you are walking into.
To perform. Show Up Go Up at Laietana, Friday at 17:30 or Saturday at 17:00, free. To watch for free. Coming In Hot at 19:30 on Mondays or Fat Goose at 19:30 on Tuesdays. To watch a polished act. A Spotlight showcase at Canvis Nous. Data read on 2 November 2026.

Watching an open mic
An open mic is a lottery. Some sets are polished, some are a first attempt. The upside is that it costs nothing and nobody expects a whole evening from you. Drop in for a set or two and leave between acts.
Doors open about half an hour before the start. Arrive when they do and you pick your seat. The room is a bar, and the Alcove, where most of these run, lets you eat during a show.
Treat the room kindly. Many people on stage are doing it for the first time, and the club frames some nights as welcoming to newcomers. Do not talk over a set, and keep your phone away. Clap between acts, not during one.
The early slots on Monday and Tuesday start at 19:30 and finish about 20:45, which leaves time for dinner. The 21:00 slots run until about 23:00.

Performing at an open mic
The pages we read do not say how names go on the list. Ask the club by email or WhatsApp, or ask the host when you arrive. The numbers are on the room reviews. Do this before your first visit, not after.
Pick the night for your level. Show Up Go Up is billed as open to anyone who turns up, and it is the most relaxed in the table. Big Mic Energy is for women, non-binary comedians and newbies. Shitty Mic mixes professionals and newcomers, and Fat Goose is billed as unpredictable.
Set length is not published for the open mics. Gong Wild gives six minutes. Plan a short set that you can stop early. A joke that works in six minutes can be cut to three, but not the other way round.
If you have never written a set, the free Saturday writing workshop at Laietana is the better first step, and it ends at 17:00, when Show Up Go Up starts in the same room. Our workshops guide explains the sessions.

Stand-up beyond the open mic
In the November 2026 listings, nearly a hundred English shows are tagged stand-up, and most of them are not open mics. They fall into three types.
- Showcases. A host and several comedians. The Wednesday and Sunday nights at Laietana and the Friday and Saturday Spotlights at Canvis Nous are the weekly ones. They cost €8 to €12 online.
- Solo hours. One comedian for the whole show, often a touring act. Prices run from €5 for a smaller act to €24 for the dearest headliner.
- Works in progress. Titles marked WiP are solo hours where the comedian tests new material. Expect rough edges. Some are free, and one in our data costs €15.
Our Top 10 comedy shows scores the weekly showcases and the one-off headliners separately. Those scores rank the shows, not the comedians, and they are not audience ratings.

Open mic, showcase or solo hour: which to choose
| You want | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| To spend nothing | An open mic or Show Up Go Up | Free to enter, free to watch |
| To try your own jokes | Show Up Go Up or Big Mic Energy | Billed as welcoming to newcomers |
| A reliable laugh | A showcase | A host and a booked line-up |
| One act, in depth | A solo hour | One comedian for the whole show |
| A late-night drink | Friday Night Live or a late slot | Starts at 22:00 or 23:00 on busy nights |
If you are visiting for a few days, the showcases are the better bet. Open mics change every week, so a visitor sees a single random hour of a longer-running scene.
If you are moving here, do the reverse. Pick one open mic, go three weeks in a row, and see who is on the list each time. On a Monday or a Tuesday, an early open mic ends about 20:45 and a late one starts at 21:00, so one evening can hold both. The free ones cost only your drinks.

English stand-up outside the Clubhouse
Secret Comedy Club runs Thorny Thursday, a weekly night-time try-out in El Raval. Read the Secret Comedy Club review for the address and what we could not confirm. Craft Barcelona runs Punchline Passport on Wednesdays; the Craft Barcelona review has the details.
Two bars, Imprfcto and Mint Bar, advertise weekly English stand-up, on Thursdays and Sundays. We found a weekly claim for each and no confirmed date in 2026 outside the Barcelona Fringe. Jokes & Beers, an English open mic that moves between bars, showed no dated 2026 event at all. We list these as leads. Our English nights out guide covers them.

In a festival week
The Barcelona Fringe turned the Clubhouse into a festival venue for ten days in November 2026. More than twenty shows ran on the busiest day, many of them stand-up hours and many of them free, and the regular open mics on some days paused. If you want an open mic that week, check the dated list for the exact evening.
A festival week is a good time to watch stand-up. A free hour at 14:00 or 17:00 is a cheap way to try a comedian. Many of them are listed as stand-up in English. The festival site lists every show.

How we built this list
We read every Clubhouse event page and the public Meetup pages for the other rooms on 2 November 2026. We counted a night as an open mic when the club tags it as one, or when its page says anyone can perform. We left out nights we could not date.
We have not performed at or watched any of these nights for this page, so we describe no set. Notes from a real visit will be marked as such. See the Top 10 comedy clubs for how the rooms rank.

Questions people ask
Where is the open mic in Barcelona in English?
The Clubhouse runs several at Laietana: two on Monday evenings, one or two on Tuesday evenings, a relaxed one on Friday and Saturday afternoons, and a monthly Friday one for music and spoken word. Secret Comedy Club has Thorny Thursday at night, and Craft Barcelona has a free Wednesday stand-up night. All are in English.
Are the open mics free?
Mostly. The Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday open mics at Laietana cost nothing to enter or to watch. The monthly Anything Else? open mic charges €5 online and €7 at the door. Thorny Thursday at Secret lists no price. A gong show at Canvis Nous, where anyone who signs up gets a short set, costs €10 online.
How do I get a slot at an open mic?
The event pages we read do not say how the list fills. Ask the club by email or WhatsApp, or ask the host when you arrive. Show Up Go Up is billed as open to anyone who turns up, which makes it the easiest first try. Our workshops guide covers the free sessions where you can write a first set.
What is the difference between an open mic and a showcase?
An open mic has whoever signs up, so the quality varies and it is usually free. A showcase is a line-up booked by the club, with a host and mostly experienced comedians, and it costs money. A solo hour is one comedian for the whole show. A WiP is a solo hour where the comedian tries out new material.
Can I just go and watch an open mic?
Yes. Open mics are open to the audience as well as the performers, and the Clubhouse ones are free. Doors open about half an hour before the start. The room is a bar, so expect to buy a drink. Be quiet during sets, since the performers are often nervous beginners. Leave between acts, not during one.
Is there any stand-up in English outside the Clubhouse?
A little. Thorny Thursday at Secret Comedy Club in El Raval runs at night, and Craft Barcelona lists a free Wednesday stand-up night. Two bars, Imprfcto and Mint Bar, advertise weekly English stand-up, but we found no confirmed 2026 date for either outside the Fringe. Check their pages the week you plan to go.
