The short answer

If you want an English-language night out in Barcelona, go to comedy. It is the one type of evening where the language is stated on the ticket. The Comedy Clubhouse runs English shows on most days, in two rooms in the old town. Nothing else in our data comes close.

Beyond the Clubhouse, two English nights show up on public pages: a Thursday try-out night at Secret Comedy Club and a Wednesday stand-up night at Craft Barcelona. Both are small. We name them below with what we could and could not confirm.

The dated list at the top of this page shows the English shows for the next two weeks. The rest of the page explains where they are, how to spot the language of a show, and what to do when the week has little English in it.

Short version. English tonight: the Clubhouse events list. A free evening: an open mic or the pub quiz at Laietana. A Friday or Saturday showcase: Canvis Nous. Little English that week: the Thursday bilingual showcase. Data read on 2 November 2026.

Why one club carries the English scene

About six in ten of the shows we hold are in English, and almost all of those are at the Clubhouse. Of the rest, most are in Spanish. Two single dates complete the English count: one at Secret Comedy Club and one at Craft Barcelona.

The pattern is not a quirk of our data. The Clubhouse sells shows in English as its main product and tags each one. The other rooms in our Top 10 comedy clubs sell Spanish or Catalan shows to a local audience, and say so on their ticket pages.

That is why this guide leans on two rooms. It is also why you should plan around them. Outside a festival, a quiet Monday or Thursday holds a small number of English shows. A Friday, Saturday or Sunday holds a lot more, and a festival day can hold dozens.

The club says on its showcases page that every show is in English. Its FAQ and its event pages show a few that are not. The figure we can defend is the one in the data: English on every day of the window, with a handful of Spanish, Italian and Catalan exceptions, each labelled.

A week of English nights

This table is the usual week, not a dated list. It shows where English is on offer on each day, the Clubhouse first. A festival replaces some of these slots, so confirm on the dated list above.

MondayTwo open mics at LaietanaFree
TuesdayOpen mics at Laietana, one of them for women and non-binary comedians and newbiesFree
WednesdayPub quiz and a showcase at Laietana; Punchline Passport at Craft BarcelonaQuiz free; showcase €8 online; Craft free or pay what you want

Read the Craft and Secret rows with care. Each rests on a single Meetup page, and the Craft page says its line-up changes every week. We have not seen either night run twice.

English nights outside the Clubhouse

Thorny Thursday at Secret Comedy Club

Secret Comedy Club is a comedian-run room under a restaurant at Carrer de la Junta de Comerç 28, in El Raval. Its English night, Thorny Thursday, runs from 22:00 to 23:30. The Meetup page describes a relaxed weekly night where comedians try material and the audience hands in highs and lows of the week to be read out.

The page says the night runs weekly until mid-December 2026 and that you can reserve ahead or turn up. It gives no price. The room is place 5 in our Top 10, on its review score. Read the full Secret Comedy Club review.

Punchline Passport at Craft Barcelona

Craft Barcelona is a bar at Carrer del Paradís 4, in the Gothic Quarter. Punchline Passport starts at 19:30, with doors at 19:00 and live music from 21:30. Entry is free with pay what you want. The Meetup page says the line-up rotates each week.

We saw one date only. It may well run weekly, but we cannot confirm that, so treat it as a night to check the day before. The same bar runs a Spanish-language monologue show with a drink on Sundays. See the Craft Barcelona review.

Bars we could not confirm

Two bars advertise English stand-up every week. Imprfcto runs it on a Thursday at 21:00, with a reverse box office: you pay what you think the show was worth as you leave. Basemint Comedy at Mint Bar runs on Sundays, with doors at 20:00 and the show at 20:30, for adults only. In both cases we found a weekly claim and no current 2026 date outside the Barcelona Fringe.

Jokes & Beers, an English open mic that moves between bars, showed no dated 2026 event at all. Barcelona Improv Group lists English improv runs on a ticket platform, but we did not verify the room or the times. We list these as leads, not plans.

How to tell what language a show is in

Never trust the title. A title in English can sit on a show in Spanish, and a title in Spanish can sit on an English-language set. The language is a separate line.

On the Clubhouse event pages it is a line with a globe icon: English, English and Spanish, Spanish, Italian, Catalan or All Languages. Our dated list copies that line into a short code. A music night labelled for all languages needs no English at all.

For the other rooms, the language comes from the ticket page or from the shows themselves. Where a room states no language, we write what the listing suggests and say it is an inference. In the Top 10 we marked Club Cronopios, Cafè Teatre Llantiol and Barcelona Comedy Club that way.

When there is little English that week

Some weeks hold few English shows, especially a quiet Monday or Thursday outside a festival. You have four sensible options.

  1. Choose the bilingual showcase. The Spanglish Show runs on Thursdays at 22:00 and mixes English and Spanish on purpose. It is the easiest way into a mixed table.
  2. Choose a night that needs little language. The quiz is spoken, but karaoke on Friday and the music nights at the weekend are labelled for all languages.
  3. Move the plan by a day. The dated list shows which days are busy, and Friday to Sunday almost always has the most English.
  4. Try a Spanish-language room with a friend who speaks the language. Teatre Muntaner and Teatreneu publish session times and prices on their own sites.

We do not recommend a Spanish-language comedy show if you speak none. Comedy leans on timing and wordplay, and a joke you cannot follow costs €14 to €20 at those two theatres. Physical comedy needs less language, but the Spanish-language improv we found is spoken, so it needs the language too.

How good does your English need to be?

Stand-up is fast, full of slang and often local. An intermediate speaker can follow a clear host and a simple story. A short set from a stranger is harder than a solo hour from one person, because each new comedian resets the voice and the topic.

Showcases suit most learners, since a host explains the order and repeats the thread. Improv relies on suggestions from the audience, so you can take part. Open mics are the most uneven: some sets are polished and some are first attempts. They are free, so the cost of a bad night is small.

This is our advice, not a measured result. Your own English is the test: if you can follow a podcast at normal speed, a showcase will be fine.

Meeting people at English nights

A quiz is the sociable one. The Pub Quiz Show at Laietana is a team game with a single comedian as host. It is free, and it starts at 20:00, an hour before the showcase in the room below.

Open mics also mix performers and watchers, who often sit together afterwards. The English Comedy in Barcelona group on Meetup announces some nights and has 7276 members. Its public rating, 4.6 from 732 ratings, is for the group, not for a room, and we do not count it as a venue rating.

Planning around the Barcelona Fringe

In November 2026 the Barcelona Fringe turned the Clubhouse into a festival venue for ten days. Many more English shows ran in that stretch, with the cost of a ticket often under €12. The festival also used rooms outside the Clubhouse, including Secret Comedy Club, Mint Bar and Imprfcto.

During a festival, the usual weekly nights can pause. If you want a specific weekly show, check the dated list for its day. If you want variety, a festival week is a good time to be in town, and the Barcelona Fringe site lists every show.

Where to go next

For a dated plan, read what is on this week. For a night with someone, read the date night guide. For a group, read the group night out guide. For ranking, our Top 10 comedy shows scores each show on its own.

We have not been to the rooms for this guide, so we describe no atmosphere. Our own visit notes will be added when someone has been.

Questions people ask

Where can I see comedy in English in Barcelona?

Mostly at The Comedy Clubhouse, which runs English shows in two rooms on most days. Two smaller nights sit outside it in our data: Thorny Thursday at Secret Comedy Club in El Raval, and Punchline Passport at Craft Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter. Other bars advertise English stand-up, but we could not confirm a current date for them.

Is there English comedy every night?

At the Clubhouse, yes, in the dated listings we read for November 2026. Some days hold only one or two shows outside a festival, and a festival day holds many. Outside the Clubhouse, English nights are weekly at most, so for a given Tuesday or Friday the Clubhouse is the safe bet. Check the dated list at the top of this page.

How do I know a show is in English?

Look for the language line. The Clubhouse puts it on every event page, and our dated list shows it as a code: EN for English, ES for Spanish, CA for Catalan. A title in English proves nothing. Some shows with English titles run in Spanish or mix both, so read the label before you pay.

Do I need to speak Spanish to enjoy a show?

No, if you choose an English-labelled night. Almost every English show at the Clubhouse runs fully in English, and one weekly show mixes English and Spanish on purpose. For rooms that list only Spanish or Catalan shows, you need the language. Our Top 10 says which rooms those are.

What do English comedy nights cost?

Between nothing and €12 for most. The open mics, the quiz and the workshops are free, a normal showcase is €8 to €12 online, and a touring headliner can reach €24. Two other English nights are free or pay what you want. Door prices are higher than online ones, where both exist.

Are English nights good for meeting people?

The free ones are. A pub quiz is played in teams, so strangers end up at one table, and an open mic has a mixed audience of performers and watchers. A showcase gives you a shared laugh but little talking. The English Comedy in Barcelona group on Meetup announces some nights and has thousands of members.
