The short answer

The Comedy Clubhouse: Canvis Nous is the original Clubhouse room, a small basement at Carrer dels Canvis Nous 10 in Ciutat Vella. It is where the club puts its Friday and Saturday headline showcases, in English, at 20:00, with a late show on Fridays at 22:00.

Go if you want the club's main weekend nights, in a close room, and you can manage a steep stair. Skip it, or pick the sister room, if you need step-free access or want to eat during the show. The Laietana review covers that room.

This room is place 2 in the Top 10 comedy clubs in Barcelona, with a review score of 92, one point behind its sister room. It wins on value but lists fewer shows and fewer English nights. Our method page shows the points we found for each criterion.

At a glance. Address: Carrer dels Canvis Nous, 10, 08003 Barcelona. Main shows in the basement. A bar, but no food. Showcases: Friday 20:00 and 22:00, Saturday 20:00. Showcase tickets: €12 online, €10 each for groups of four or more. Book on the Clubhouse showcases page.

What the room is like

Most shows at Canvis Nous are in the basement. The event pages name the spaces "Upstairs" and "The Rumpus Room", and we could not tell from the pages alone which show uses which space. The Friday Spotlight and Friday Night Live pages put their shows in The Rumpus Room.

The club's venues page calls the room a cosy 70-seater. Our scorecard predates that figure. It is one reason the room scores lower on atmosphere and facilities than on the shows, along with the stair and the toilets.

There is a bar, which the club says both rooms have. There is no food at this room. If you want a meal, eat before you come or use the sister room, which has a kitchen and is about two minutes away on foot, according to the club's FAQ.

The club calls this room the original. Its About page says the Clubhouse began in March 2021 with a group of comedians in Barcelona. We have not tried to reconcile that date with other press accounts, so we do not give a year of opening for this room.

The stairs, the toilets and early entry

Read this part before you bring anyone with limited mobility. The basement is down a very steep stair with a railing. The toilets are on the ground floor, and the FAQ says neither is large enough for a wheelchair.

The club asks guests who need help to tell it in advance, and it then offers early entry. We have not visited, and we cannot say how the stair feels with a bag or after a drink. The honest summary is that this is not an accessible room.

The Friday and Saturday showcases

The showcases are the reason to come here. Three shows make up the weekend, and each has its own page on the club's site with a date and a price.

ShowWhenPrice
The Friday SpotlightFridays, 20:00. Listed for 20 and 27 November.€12 online, €10 each for groups of 4+. The 20 November page also lists €15 on the door.
Friday Night LiveFridays, 22:00. Listed for 20 and 27 November.€12 online, €10 each for groups of 4+.
The Saturday SpotlightSaturdays, 20:00. Listed for 21 and 28 November.€12 online, €10 each for groups of 4+.

The club describes the Friday Spotlight as its "crown jewel", with "rock-solid stand-up sets and a featured headliner". The line-up changes every week, and the page we read does not name the acts in advance. That is the club's own description, not an audience rating.

Friday Night Live is described as "a rotating mix of top touring comedians" with surprise drop-ins. The Saturday Spotlight is billed as a showcase of travelling and local comics. We cannot tell you who will be on, and we do not invent names.

Fringe weeks change the pattern. On Friday 6 and 13 November the Friday slots carry Fringe shows instead, and on 7 November the Saturday Spotlight moves to the Laietana room for two editions, at 20:00 and 21:30. From 20 November the normal pattern is back.

Some of the later event pages said "Tickets coming soon" when we looked on 2 November, including the Friday Spotlight page of 20 November. Booking for those dates was therefore not yet open. Check the page again closer to the date.

The rest of the week

Outside the weekend, our data shows few Canvis Nous dates. In the listings we read, the room has no shows on 2 to 5 November, and none on 16 to 19 November. The first gap falls before the festival starts. The second may be a gap in the club's listing, since the site's event list may have been cut.

The weekday programme sits at the Laietana room: the open mics, the pub quiz, the Wednesday showcase and the Thursday improv. Typical Adult Behaviour appears at Canvis Nous once, on Thursday 12 November at 20:00 for €5, during Fringe week.

In short, treat Canvis Nous as a weekend room with a busy festival week. If you land in Barcelona on a Monday or Tuesday, go to Laietana. Our English nights out guide lists what is on each night.

Fringe week at Canvis Nous

The Barcelona Fringe runs from 6 to 15 November 2026. From 2 to 15 November the club lists 60 dated shows at Canvis Nous, with 50 different titles. English shows appear on 10 of the 14 dates.

The room opens its programme on Friday 6 November. That evening it lists Irene Sango Live at 20:00 for €5 online, Comedy Striptease at 21:30 and the Gong Wild gong show at 23:00, both €10 online. Free shows start at 17:00.

Saturday 7 November is the busiest day. The listings run from 12:30 to 23:00 and include Hector Ayala: Don't Stop Praying Now at 20:00, Michelle Ahern: Are We There Yet? at 21:30 and a free late show, Major League Bombs, at 23:00. At 21:30 there is also a Catalan-language solo show by David Arnau for €10.

Among the Fringe shows in this room, the most expensive are €12 online and €14 at the door. They include James Roque: Mano Po on 8 and 9 November and Sid Singh: Love Bombing on 12 November. The cheapest paid shows are €5 online, such as the improv show TAB Presents: Act Out on 11 November.

Many afternoon shows are listed as free. Treat "free" with care in festival week. The event page is the only place that states the real terms. One Laietana show we checked turned out to be pay what you want, with a drink required.

The Top 10 comedy shows ranks the top-scoring shows across both rooms, with Irene Sango Live in place 3. The Laietana review covers the other room's Fringe programme. For both rooms and the other venues, day by day, see our Barcelona Fringe guide.

What it costs

Most tickets at Canvis Nous are cheap. In the dated listings from 2 to 15 November the median paid ticket was €8 online, and 38 shows were free. The weekend showcases are the main exception at €12 online.

Groups of four or more pay €10 each for the showcases, and the club sells the group price online only. Door prices are higher where the page lists one: the Friday Spotlight of 20 November lists €15, against €12 online.

So a pair on a Saturday pays €24 online. A group of four pays €10 each. Add a drink at the bar. The data has no bar prices, so we cannot say what an evening costs in total.

Who Canvis Nous suits

A date night

The Saturday Spotlight at 20:00 is the straightforward choice: a fixed start, a fixed price and a showcase format with several acts. Book online so that you have two seats, and eat before. There is no food in the room, so the meal comes first or after.

The basement is small and the stair is steep. If either of you would find that hard, pick Laietana. Our date night guide compares more options.

A group

Friday and Saturday are the nights for a group. The group price starts at four people, and a group of four saves €8 over four online tickets on the 20 November Friday Spotlight. Book early: the club says some shows regularly sell out.

Tell the club if the group includes anyone who needs help on the stairs. Our group night out guide explains how to book for larger parties.

On your own

Friday Night Live at 22:00 is the easier late option on your own, because the line-up is described as a rotating mix with surprise drop-ins. You do not need to know the acts in advance. For a cheaper first night, look at the €5 improv and showcase slots in Fringe week.

If you want to try stand-up

The club's open mics run at the Laietana room, not here. See the stand-up and open mics guide for the free nights and the writing workshop.

Booking, tickets and house rules

The house rules are the same in both rooms, and our Laietana review sets them out. In short, tickets can usually be bought at the door unless a show is sold out, but online is cheaper. The club refunds or swaps a ticket if you ask at least 24 hours before. Booking fees are not refunded.

Arrive on time, because entry is guaranteed only then and some solo shows admit no latecomers. The general age limit is 18, and guests aged 16 and over may come with an adult. Dogs are allowed, and the club says it is busy on Fridays and Saturdays.

Contact the club at info@thecomedyclubhouse.es or by phone and WhatsApp on +34 611 61 94 46. Plan your route on TMB; we did not check station names for this page.

How Canvis Nous compares

Against Laietana, Canvis Nous is smaller in programme and harder to enter, but it holds the flagship weekend nights. Against Secret Comedy Club in El Raval, it has far more dated English shows in our data, and a published price for each. Secret lists an English open-mic night on Thursdays, plus Spanish-language runs.

Against the Spanish-language clubs, such as Club Cronopios or La Sala by LastCrit, it stands apart because neither of them lists English in our data. Those rooms run frequent sessions in Spanish. See the full Top 10 for how they compare.

How we scored the room

We score each club on six criteria worth 100 points. Canvis Nous gets full points for shows and line-up, for ease of booking and language, for value and for reliability. It loses points for room and atmosphere, because the stair and toilets limit access.

One public rating is shared with the sister room. It is the Meetup group "English Comedy in Barcelona", rated 4.6 from 732 ratings on 2 November 2026. It rates a group of events, not this room.

Nothing on this page comes from a visit. Our own notes will be added once someone has been to a show here.

Questions people ask

How much does a ticket cost at Canvis Nous?

In the dated listings from 2 to 15 November the median paid ticket was €8 online, and 38 shows were free. The Friday and Saturday showcases cost €12 online, with €10 each for groups of four or more. The Friday Spotlight page of 20 November also lists €15 on the door. Headline Fringe shows cost up to €12 online.

Why is there no food at Canvis Nous?

The club's FAQ says there is no food at this room, although both rooms have a bar. The kitchen is at the sister room on Via Laietana, which the FAQ puts about two minutes away on foot. A simple plan is to eat there before an early show, or after a late one, and then walk over.

Are the stairs a problem?

They can be. Most shows are in the basement, down a very steep stair with a railing. The toilets are on the ground floor, and neither is large enough for a wheelchair. If anyone in your group has trouble with stairs, tell the club before you book. It offers early entry.

Which nights suit a first visit?

The Friday Spotlight at 20:00 and the Saturday Spotlight at 20:00 are the showcases the club lists as its Friday and Saturday headline nights. They also have a fixed time and price, which makes them easy to plan. Friday Night Live at 22:00 suits a later evening. Check the date first, because Fringe week changes the line-up.

Can I just turn up without a ticket?

Often yes. The club says tickets can usually be bought at the door unless the show is sold out, but online is cheaper, and some shows regularly sell out. A waitlist at the door sells extra tickets 15 minutes after the start. Arrive on time, since entry is guaranteed only then.

Are the shows in English?

Mostly. In the dated listings from 2 to 15 November, English shows appear on 10 of 14 dates. One show in that period, David Arnau on 7 November at 21:30, is in Catalan, and the club labels any show in a language other than English. Check the language line on each event page.

Are there alcohol-free drinks at Canvis Nous?

The club does not list them. Its venues page describes a basic bar with beer, wine, vermouth and similar, and no soft drink is named, so we cannot say what is stocked. Ask on WhatsApp before you book. The club takes no calls, and it says its team usually answers in about 5 minutes.

How many seats are there?

The club's venues page describes the room as a cosy 70-seater, called the Rumpus Room, with classic stand-up seating close to the stage. That matches what reviewers describe: an intimate basement where performers and crowd sit near each other. Because the room is small, book online for the Friday and Saturday showcases.

When is Canvis Nous open?

Only on show nights. The venues page lists it closed from Monday to Wednesday, open Thursday from 7pm to midnight, Friday from 7pm to 2am and Saturday from 6pm to 2am. The Laietana room covers the rest of the week, so a Monday or Tuesday open mic is there, not here.

How early should I arrive?

Early. The club says shows start on time and that early arrival gets you the better seats. Its bar opens an hour before showtime, and it suggests getting there at least 30 minutes ahead to find a seat and buy a drink. Late entry is not guaranteed, and some solo comedians admit no latecomers at all.

Is Canvis Nous the top pick for English comedy in Barcelona?

It is place 2 on our review score, 92 out of 100, and it holds the club's Friday and Saturday headline nights in English. On Tripadvisor the room shows 4.8 from 45 reviews and ranks 17 of 184 in the Theater & Concerts list for Barcelona. Those are visitor reviews of the room, not a ranking of English comedy.

Which other languages are performed here?

The club says most shows are in English, with some in Italian, Russian and Catalan, plus one Spanish show a week. A show in another language is labelled on its event page and ticket. Our data for 2 to 15 November found one Catalan show, so a first-time visitor who speaks only English can usually pick freely.

Is it a good place for a group or a team night out?

Groups of four or more pay less when they book a showcase online, at €10 each instead of €12. A Tripadvisor reviewer from March 2025 reported using the room for a team night out and praised the evening and the bar staff. With few seats, book early and tell the club your group size.

Is Canvis Nous good for a date night?

It can be. A Tripadvisor reviewer called the club an easy idea for a date night or a hangout with friends, and praised low-priced drinks. The room is small and has no kitchen, so eat first at the Laietana room, two minutes away on foot. Pick the Friday or Saturday showcase for a fixed start time.

Where is Canvis Nous and how do I find it?

It is at Carrer dels Canvis Nous 10, in the El Born area of Ciutat Vella, postcode 08003. The sister room on Via Laietana is about two minutes away on foot. No source we read names a metro station, so plan the route on TMB. Leave a few minutes to find the door on a first visit.
